The American Civil Rights movement was the struggle in the 1950s and 1960s wherein people sought to achieve the rights of citizenship which were guaranteed by the 14th and 15th Amendments. They sought, among other things, equality for African-Americans in the way of equal opportunity in employment, equal access to public facilities, and equal protection under the law.
