The English Civil War was a series of armed conflicts, three in all, which were fought from 1642 to 1651. These conflicts involved the Royalists, also known as Cavaliers, and were on the side of King Charles I and his followers. The peasants and others who were against King Charles I were the Parliamentarians, who were also called Roundheads.
