A midwife is a health care professional who helps mothers before, during, and after pregnancy, coaching the mother or couple on birthing techniques, helping to deliver the baby, and teaching breastfeeding and care for the baby afterwards. Many midwives also offer primary care to women in the case of reproductive health, annual gynecological examinations, and family planning, as well as help during peri-menopause.
